We believe that there are some issues with Microsoft Windows or Microsoft Office that are preventing Business-in-a-Box from working correctly. Not all steps may be necessary. You should try running the software after each step. Before you start with step 2, please make sure to close Business-in-a-Box and all Office products.
STEP 1 – Make sure you have the latest version of Business-in-a-Box, which is V 7.1.8
You can verify under HELP/About Business-in-a-Box.
If you do not have the latest version, please uninstall the software, and download the newest version from:
Try running Business-in-a-Box. Does it work now? If you are still encountering the same issue, please try STEP 2.
STEP 2 – Make sure that all the latest Windows Updates have been installed.
- Open Windows Update by clicking the Start button
- In the left pane, click Check for updates, and then wait while Windows looks for the latest updates for your computer.
- If any updates are found, click Install updates.
IMPORTANT NOTE: If you are using Windows 10, make sure that Metered Connection is disabled or the updates will fail.
- Search in the start menu for “Change Wi-Fi settings”
- Click Advanced Options.
- Disable the toggle under “Metered connection.”
Once the Windows Updates have been applied, try running Business-in-a-Box. Does it work now? If you are still having issues, please try STEP 3.
STEP 3 – Make sure that you only have one version of Microsoft Office installed on your computer. If you have more than one version installed, it can interfere with Business-in-a-Box. You need to uninstall the oldest version.
Go to Start < Control Panel > Add/Remove Programs (Programs and Features for Vista) and remove the program. Once you restart your computer the program should be gone. Try running Business-in-a-Box. Does it work now? If you are still having issues, please try STEP 4.
STEP 4 – Repair Microsoft Office
Please run a repair in your Microsoft Office. Simply open your control panel, select "add or remove “programs” or “Programs and features”, locate Microsoft Office in the list of programs, right click on it, select “change”, then “Quick repair”.
Try running Business-in-a-Box.
STEP 5 - Force Business-in-a-Box to use the default text editor.
In order to do that, close the software first. Then press the Windows button on your key board + 'R' and copy and paste the following command to execute:
"C:\Program Files (x86)\Business-in-a-Box 2018\BIB.exe" /OFFICE=TX
Click OK. This will open your Business-in-a-Box. The text editor that should be then set is the 'Business-in-a-Box' editor (Click on 'Settings' then 'Office Suite Preferences' to verify).
